The nose is clean, clear loaded with fresh melon, passion fruit and citrus with light notes of ginger bringing balance to the fruit.
The palate is zesty with a creamy acidity. The notes of ginger follow through on the palate and into the lengthy finish.
Remhootge First light Chenin Blanc 2018
- Varietal: 100% Chenin Blanc Viticulture: Cool, southerly aspects, combined with fresh maritime breezes provide ideal conditions for optimal ripening of the grapes. The yield of the vines is low, around 5 tons per hectare. The soils are made up of deep, decomposed granite. The vines are old and only yield about 5 tons per hectare. Cellar: The grapes are hand harvested and then cooled overnight to around 5 degrees Celsius. They are sorted on a conveyor belt before going into the press where they undergo an 8 hour maceration on the skins before being gently pressed. 15% is fermented and matured in 225l french oak vats, while the remainder is fermented in stainless steel tanks . After spending seven months on the fine lees the wine is racked and bottled Tasting note: Aromas of fresh lime and peaches are livened by tropical notes of pineapple and kiwi fruit. The palate is full and limey with a lively acidity and a light spice, giving a lengthy finish.
